doctoral
George Perrett is a second year doctoral student in the SCSS program at NYU. His research interests are the intersection of causal inference, measurement, and computational Bayesian methods. He applies his methodological work to applied problems in sports analytics, education and AI policy.
Aysegul Gunduz is a first-year Ph.D. student in Applied Statistics and Computational Social Science at NYU Steinhardt, holding her Master’s degree in Measurement, Evaluation, and Data Science from the University of Alberta. She is interested in applying psychometric, statistical, machine learning, and causal inference methods to improve educational assessment, evaluate AI-based tools such as essay scoring, feedback, and item generation systems, and inform education policy. Outside of research, Aysegul loves writing mathematical poetry, theater nights, traveling, playing tennis, and trying new recipes :)

Ruiting Shen is a master’s student in the A3SR program at NYU. In Fall 2026, she will begin her Ph.D in Educational Psychology at The University of Wisconsin, Madison. Outside of research, she loves trying good food and coffee, swimming, researching fashion trends, and playing chess.
Jillian Pizza is a Master’s student in the A3SR program at NYU. In Fall 2026, she will begin a joint Ph.D in Politics and Communication at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School. Outside of research, Jillian loves live music, painting, reading, and spending time with her friends and cat, Olive!
Sophia Deng completed her Master’s degree in Applied Statistics for Social Research A3SR in Spring 2025. In Fall 2026, she will begin her Ph.D in Human-Centered Technology, Innovation, and Design at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering.
Yuan Huang graduated from A3SR in Spring 2025. In Fall 2026, she will begin her Ph.D in biostatistics at NYU Langone. Outside of research, Yuan enjoys running, swimming, and hiking.
Yining Lu completed her master’s degree in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research (A3SR) in Spring 2025. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership and Information Analytics at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Victoria Zhang graduated from A3SR in Spring 2025. She currently works as a predoctoral research associate at Harvard Business School. Outside of research, Victoria enjoys cooking, exploring new cuisines, attending concerts and shows, and learning new languages.
